We finally got up this morning around 10:00! Guess we got caught up on sleep! David got up first, of course, and made me coffee. He discovered some hot chocolate mix in the cupboard so he made himself a cup. We both showered and the toiletries Rachael has here are wonderful and smell so good! The en suite shower has a big rain shower head and another shower head. WONDERFUL!
Douglas wandered over and invited us for lunch so we didn't bother with breakfast. When we were here last time he made this for us and we all loved it!!! Squash stuffed with lentils and slowly baked. It was just as delicious this time!
After lunch Claire was going to an organic produce market owned by her friend Valerie and we decided to tag along. It was a beautiful, sunny day but still cold. It is a small market but everything there looked very good. We bought some red leaf lettuce, an avocado, potatoes and eggs.
We came home, put away our groceries and went out to walk around to see if anything had changed since we were last here. There is a new shop on the square that Claire told us would not be open until Tuesday. Rachael, I don't believe it was open when you were here last time. It is beside Le Bacchus. I'm not going to tell you what it is until I can go inside and take pictures to share with you. Also, there is a new shop next to the antique store. It wasn't open either but I'll report on it tomorrow if I can.
Then we walked up to say hello to Carine who owned the magazine/news store and it is now a different store!!! We were so disappointed because we got to know her (she speaks English) and enjoyed visiting with her. We just assumed she no longer lived here. Later on we asked Douglas about her and he told us she bought the bar up the street on the left that we always called the beer garden. He said the news stand is in the rear. We didn't know so we didn't go in there today but we will definitely visit her tomorrow.
We made our way a little further to the cheese store. It is such an incredible store!!! We picked out three kinds of cheese and, of course, bought butter there because it is the best!
We walked back a different route just to see if there was anything else new. We didn't discover any new shops but we did see a few properties for sale. Sigh. Wishful thinking!
A little later we decided to walk over to our favorite wine bar, Aux Cepages, to see Michelle and Alain. Claire and Douglas came along with us. Michelle and Alain seemed happy to see us and even remembered our favorite wines. Now that was very nice!!! They don't speak any English and David, of course, tried to speak French with them. He made a little bit of a mistake when he was trying to say "you're welcome" to Michelle and instead, somehow, said "of urine." Michelle gave him an odd look and Claire and Douglas laughed until they couldn't breathe. Claire taught him the proper response and made him promise never to say "of urine" again. It was pretty funny! Here is Claire wearing David's glasses looking up the proper phrase in David's French dictionary.
We think she looks very professorial in the glasses! After two glasses of wine we came home and just had multigrain baguette with butter and delicious cheese for dinner.
We are both getting sleepy so we will read awhile and go to bed. Tomorrow is market day and we are very excited for that!!!
Good night all! xoxoxo
I keep trying to comment but they apparently aren't going through. I am so happy you and David are having such a good time. Thank you for taking the time to blog so we can all live vicariously through you!!! Your place sounds divine and the town sounds absolutely charming and I would love to visit!!!
